Jack Uppal was appointed GM Canada president and managing director in February 2026.
He returns home with more than a decade of international leadership experience across China, India, Singapore and the Middle East to lead GM Canada at a pivotal moment of transformation, building on the company’s long‑standing presence in the country to sustain sales leadership, continue to elevate the customer experience, and unlock new opportunities for innovation and growth.
Prior to this role, Uppal was president and managing director, GM Africa & Middle East, where he spearheaded the acceleration of the organization’s digital transformation and expanded GM’s connectivity footprint across the region, powered by OnStar. Under his leadership, GM Africa & Middle East also delivered volume and share growth, and sustainable financial performance in an increasingly competitive market.
Uppal strongly believes in putting the consumer at the forefront of the business, enhancing internal culture and employee development, establishing robust relationships, and incorporating innovation to promote a strategic and inclusive approach.
Over his 24-year career with GM, he has held senior leadership roles across global markets in sales, marketing, customer experience, strategic planning and brand management. He began his GM career in Canada in 2001 and has since built a reputation for his customer-centric approach and ability to deliver results across diverse regions.
